HPV & Cervical Cancer

Human Papillomavirus, HPV, is the most common sexually transmitted disease in the United States.  It has been in the news recently because the FDA has approved a vaccine for HPV, the virus known to cause most cervical cancers.  More than 100 different types of HPV exist, some producing genital warts.  Most types of HPV are harmless, but there are a few types that can lead to cervical cancer. 

There are many myths surrounding HPV, genital warts, pap tests and cervical cancer.  To dispel 12 common myths, visit the American Social Health Association website.
